Hi Muhammad,

It sounds as if the artificial eye needs resizing. If the prosthesis is too big, too small or just not the right shape for the eye socket it will tend to rotate, be uncomfortable or fall out. Can your friend easily get to an Ocularist (eye maker)? Which country does he live in? If you follow this link you may be able to find someone close to him: http://artificialeyes.net/ocularists/

Kind regards,

Jenny Geelen.

One of my friends lost his during playing game. A pencil got hit in his eye.the liquid started coming out of the eye. His didn't knew that eye is getting weaker, also they didn't find a specialist doctor at that time.

He is using the artificial move-able eyeball but there are some problems. His eyeball gets loose sometime and then gets free.
Can you suggest me some solution so i can help him.

Regards,
Muhammad Usman

Hi Linda, There are several reasons that a prosthesis can become dry. Has the new prosthesis become dry recently or was it like that from the start? If it is a recent thing then it is possibly protein build up on the prosthesis and can be removed with a professional polish from your ocularist. If it has been like that from the start then it may be that the prosthesis is a little too big. An adjustment can be made by the ocularist to make it a little smaller.

It could be that the cornea is a little peaky so that the lids do not blink over easily, which can also be fixed by your ocularist. Windy or dusty environments, hair sprays or other aerosols can add to the problem. When all other options have been ruled out we recommend Ocuglide eye drops which are silicon based. One drop will coat the prosthesis for the entire day, then another drop can be added before bed - if needed.
